Our Roots
Celebrating 95 years
In 1927, Pastor Emil J. Johnson held meetings in his home as the rudimentary mission of Augustana Lutheran Church. The following year, 1928, the church was formally organized and land on Wheeler and Chartres was donated to build the sanctuary. In March of 2023, Augustana will celebrate its 95th anniversary at the corner of Wheeler and Chartres.
